    Hello;

    Sorry if this is explained, but I cannot find it so far.

    I have ESXi 5 running on a 2 CPU MBO with only 1 CPU installed and a 1 CPU license. I want to add another CPU but I don't know how to upgrade my licence to be able to activate the 2nd CPU when I install it.

    If it is a vended license you will have to go back to the partner or VMware or whomever you purchased the license from - if it is the free license you will have to generate a new licenses for two CPU -

    What type of license do you currently have? If it's a free Hypervisor license you may not need to do anything, if it is a paid license you need a second CPU license.

    Sorry, it is the free license. I got it direct from VMware site after downloading the software and registering.
