    Hi All

I am in the process of updating to vsphere, though need a licencing server to manage 3.5 esx hosts for a few weeks, is it possible to install the licencing server on a 2008 windows 64bit server, or must I point to the old 2.5 Virtual centre server for licencing?

    Thanks

Cause License Server is the same of VI3, you have to follow the system requirement at page 21 of:

    http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35u2/vi3_35_25_u2_installation_guide.pdf

In this guide instead there isn't a system requirement:

    http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsp_4_legacy_host_lic.pdf

So the answer is seem no (from the first document), but maybe could run.

The License Server is just a FlexLM, not a special vmware-software. Don't know if it runs under 64bit. You might google that.
