iSCSI LUN Maximums

So I'm looking at the configuration maximums documentation and it says that the maximum LUN for Fiber Channel is 2TB. Does this also apply to iSCSI LUNS?  For example, I have an iSCSI LUN of 5TB that ESX "sees", however when I try to lay down VMFS on it and add it to usable storage, it lets me choose the entire 5TB, but only write 930GB and says "complete".

Do I need to chunck this 5TB into 2TB max LUNs, then write my 5TB VMFS over multiple LUNS instead of just one?

Yes, the limitation applies to iSCSI too. As you already correctly mentioned, you will need to present LUNs with max. 2TB minus 512 Bytes.

Thanks!  It's what I figured, but wasn't sure because the Config Maximums document doens't mention iSCSI LUN size and the Add Storage wizard allowed me to choose the entire 5TB LUN when writing VMFS.

That limitation applies to local disks and VMDKs as well.

Yes, it may allow you to choose the LUN, but ESXi will end up with a LUN size of approximately 5TB modulo 2TB because of the 2TB (overflow) limit. That's why you see the 930GB.
