"Invalid country code" when attempting to download VMWare Fusion

    My old account would no longer work for some reason, so I created a new one. I put in my location as ALAND ISLANDS and proceeded to the download link for VMWare Fusion. When I fill in the download form, it fills in the country from my profile and does not allow me to change this choice, though it then requires additional details such as my street address etc etc. But then finally when I want to download I get an error message saying "Invalid country code".

    I was in touch with a customer representative using the chat component on the download page and they said they would update my account with acceptable information but it would take some time and would I try again tomorrow; but then when I came back a few days later and tried again, it still didn't work (and thus in desperation I created the current account with a falsified address in another country, which was apparently completely acceptable).

    The chat interface suddenly no longer allows me to get in touch with a human so I resort to posting here. If you have suggestions for how to actually get in touch with the company, I'll be happy to take this elsewhere.
