  • 1.  Installing PVSCSI drivers

    Hi

    I've an issue trying to use paravirtual SCSI interface for Windows VM.

    I'm modifying a windows 2008 R2 Template and trying to install the PVSCSI driver from the flp image but got an error that the installation method isn't supported .

    Can anyone help me ?

    Also , what are the steps to modify existing VM to use the PVSCSI driver interface  ?

    Thanks

    With the VM powered off, edit the VM settings, select the controller, Change Type and then select the "VMware Paravirtual" controller;

    *** This requires the VMware Tools to be installed.

    Here is the official KB;

    Cheers,

    I did it with a windows 2003 Server but it goes Blue screen , it already had the TOOLS installed .

    For windwos 2008 we did it with the VM turned on , so it installed the drivers , and then rebooted .

    This way it worked fine

    thanks

    The reason for the bluescreen is that the driver was not yet installed.

    To avoid it, add another scsi-controller and set to scsi-adress 1:0 or higher and choose "Paravirtual Scsi", then power on the machine.

    The driver will then be installed and you can shut down the machine, remove the newly added scsi-controller and change the original one to "Paravirtual Scsi".

    That should do it.

    As per Linjo ... this is the correct way to do it.
