  • 1.  Installation of ESXi on single processor server

    Hi all,

Just want to ask here for any advise. Currently my end customer have one Cisco server with 2 processor to installed ESXi on it. But under some reason, one of the processor need to take out and left only one there. So, my question is :

    1) Can i proceed to ESXi installation with only one single processor?

    2) Let say if i don't take out the processor during the installation of ESXi but only after installation we take out, is any interruption can happen on this server?

    3) Can anyone correct me if wrong. If less processor in the server which mean is less core. Is it right?

Hope anyone can advise me on this matter. Thank

Dude if you take you one processor the POST will not happen, the system will not boot even it will not do POST.  Each Processor have its set of DIMM Modules, it will not even POST. According to what i have seen in HP DL and BL series.

I think you might be safe to install ESXi on the host, but I wouldn't put any production workloads on it.
