  • 1.  import Distributed Switches in new vCenter

    Posted Mar 15, 2023 09:58 PM

We have recently migrated a host from one vCenter to another, this one has a distributed switch.

We have imported the distributed switch and connected the host to this new vCenter. but I can't see the vms in the port groups (The vms have not lost connectivity) but they can't be seen. Could someone help me with this, since it is intended to move other vms and other production hosts and I do not want to lose connectivity.

i don`k know ur network topo.how many vSW and how the manager、vMo、prod use port
i assume that u have remore a host to new VC and did not add host to the new VC``s vDS.
though the vDS same info, but for the new VC, ur host not in it`s distributed switch.
maybe u can manage ur host virtual sw, remove one of ur port to free.
then add ur host to vDS and use the free port
if there is no prod VM on the host
u need test the vDS port, maybe u can deploy one or more VM to the host.
remove another vDS port, to check if the new one works.
Then Migration ur VM from old vc to new vc(if u use vc7, if not u need a tool)
