There is no hassle if you teach your student to use Google Search. For me, Techspot was the first entry outside Broadcom for VMware Workstation Pro Download ... there are numerous others.
... or you do what Technogeezer suggested to have a central point for all the Downloads ... this is what I have ALWAYS done, even for my own use alone. This IS the security and stability approach for ALL software.
As for creating a Company Download Site ... that is very easy, even with Notepad - the tool doesn't matter. They are just being very, very lazy.

Not surprising that you encountered this response. Broadcom doesn't provide technical support of any kind for the Desktop Hypervisor products (Workstation or Fusion). I'm surprised that they entertained the question at all. (they will entertain talking to a Customer Care representative about difficulties with your account and being unable to download software found in the free software area).
This forum is the only avenue for support of Workstation other than tech notes and on-lline documentation. See the sections "Is technical support available" and "How can I get help if I run into issues?" in the FAQ: .https://www.vmware.com/docs/desktop-hypervisor-faqs
FYI you can get a PDF user manual for Workstation Pro from the following link to Broadcom's TechDocs site:

I did the entire process for a new user on a different internet browser and it worked. I was able to Download the latest version of Workstation Pro for Windows.
However, the process was pretty obscure:
- you need to somehow get into the page where they give instructions of the download
- then you need to click "Downloading Workstation Pro" on this documentation-look-a-like page
- then somewhere there you need to click "My Downloads" and it gives "for free products click HERE" link
... somewhere there it says "a second verification is required"
... and there you fill in address & company & stuff (I also gave something to State/Province which isn't real information in here). Be careful with your country, while Preview somehow is showing the wrong country, worked though.
- then you get the actual Download Page, but you cannot select Terms nor Download icon
- you have to actually READ the Terms and Conditions (or rather Download them) and then you can click the Download icon, when you go back somehow
I hope this explains, but writing a real PDF out from this would be a better approach.

Oh yes! The exact same thing happens to me. I have now tried repeatedly for two days and I'm stuck in the same loop as you describe.
I have tried this on tree different laptops on both Windows and Linux with Chrome, Firefox and Edge and I always end up in the same loop.
I have also tried to only use ascii characters in the form and keep it simple as suggested by RaSystemlord, but no difference.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
