    Hello,

I am new to Hyperic and SNMP and need some advise on how to get this working. I am using a Sun Solaris SPARC. A specific question I have is do I need to have Sun's SNMP packages installed? Or does Hyperic take care of this? I had Hyperic and SunONE 6.1 installed but Hyperic was not auto discovering SunONE virtual web servers. It did pick up the SunONE admin server (but didn't give any metrics) as well as the Hyperic built in postgresql server and a few others; but no virtual web servers. I then had our SA's install and configure Suns SNMP packages and now the Hyperic agent won't load and connect.

Any other advise/pointers in getting Hyperic and SNMP configured would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Cito

    Hi,

you do not have to install any libraries or software. Hyperic HQ comes with all the stuff to do SNMP monitoring. I would recommend you to install snmp command line tools to check the connectivity to your SNMP devices.
