Host status is unknown when checking compliance

I have created a cluster made of two DL380 Gen10 hosts. However, when I try to check compliance with an image, I get the following message for one of the hosts:

Host status is unknown

Host is not reachable. Check host's connectivity and health in vCenter and retry.

Some thought:

• ensure that the host's IP address isn't in use elsewhere (duplicate IP address)
• verify proper DNS resolution
• in case vCenter and ESXi communicate across a firewall, verify the firewall rules

what else should we look at ? one caveat,  also make sure that the updatemanager and esxiupdate firewall rulesets are enabled on the ESXi host(s). what else would cause this issue?

esxcli network firewall ruleset list | grep -i update

that's the command to check firewall ruleset on esxi
