    Hi!

On one ESX 4.0 server i'm getting Host hardware voltage alert every 5 minutes. When i click on reset sensors in Hardware status tab then it disappeared but only for a short period and then comes back. I's real pain in the ass problem. I allready changed battery on motherboard but it didn't help at all.

We have IBM BladeCenter HS 22 and the latest firmware for UEFI and IMM.

Alarm 'Host hardware voltage' on x.x.x.x changed from Red to Green info.

    Any ideas?

Got the same exact thing here, same hardware as well.  It is a bit weird, the IBM hardware is not detecting anything wrong either so I am not sure where the problem is coming from.

I have lots of HS22s that have experienced this issue.  I think IBM must have put dodgy batteries in their servers.  It is possible you replaced your old one with another dodgy one.  I have replaced a bunch of these batteries and I have another VBAT error just come up recently.  They seem to be okay when I put a non IBM battery in.

You may be better off getting cheap batteries from another supplier then IBM.

Or it may just be a bug. :/

    Hi,

You need check logs in IMM of this server.

I found this link with error codes: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/bladectr/documentation/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.bladecenter.hs22.doc/dw1iv_r_IMM_error_messages.html

Maybe you there a problem with this hardware, open support in IBM to check it and change a battery if necesary.

    Good Luck

    Hello hhmz,

Generally i see this behavior when:

    • The firmware of the Blades are not adequate with the chassis firmware.
    • The Batteries are with malfunctions.
    • The hardware has got a real failure.
