As title, we are going to certificate our storage products, there are some questions would like to have your comment:

1.if the submission logs can apply to other models that have the same host interface and firmware version?

2.how about RAID subsystem redundant controller and single controller? for example, a redundant controller storage passed the CVA test, single controller can refer to the same test result?

3.how much should be needed for a submission?

4.if SP NDU is a necessary passed item for certificate? Since our product does not support upload firmware without IO interrupt.

your prompt reply will be appreciated. thanks.

    Peggy,

You should be directing these questions to your VMware Partner Engineering Liaison. The answers to some of your questions may be found in the documentation under Hardware Certification in Partner Central.

    Good luck,

    David

    Dear Sir:

    I'm Proware NAS testing Engineer.

Now I'm start the CVA2.2 test for our NAS. But I have something question need your help:

    About CAV_22_storagegd.pdf page 177

    Install the Guest Operating

    Systems as follows:

1 Create a minimum of four (4) virtual machines all on one (1) SHARED datastore:

    a. Microsoft Windows OS and LSI Logic (persistent on a shared NFS datastore)

    b. Microsoft Windows OS with BusLogic (persistent on a shared NFS datastore)

    c. GNU/Linux OS and LSI Logic (persistent on a shared NFS datastore)

    d. GNU/Linux OS with BusLogic (persistent on a shared NFS datastore)

I can not create Microsoft windows OS (windows 2008 or 2003R2SE) with BusLogic SCSI controller of virtual machine.

And GUN/Linux OS (RHEL5.3) with BusLogic SCSI controller of virtual machine is same.

So, where can be download vmware BusLogic Driver for windows 2003 or 2008 and RHEL5.3 OS driver?

Or I need change other OS for create virtual machine with vmware BusLogic SCSI controller?

Or I just need create 2 windows 200R2SE with LSI SCSI controller and 2 RHEL5.3

with LSI SCSI controller virtual machines? Can me without BusLogic SCSI

    controller for CVA2.2 Certification.

    My test environment:

    Maunfacturer: Dell Inc,

    Model: PowerEdge 2950

CPU Coress: 4 CPUsx 2,659 GHZ

    Processor Type: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5430 @ 2.66GHZ

Lincese: vsphere 4 Enterprise Plus.Lincesed for 1 physical CPU.

PS: Now I create virtual machine following OS finished.

    Edward,

For Windows download the BusLogic driver from here: http://download3.vmware.com/software/vmscsi-1.2.0.4.flp

For Linux you need to use a version of Linux that support BusLogic, these include RHEL3 and SLES10 - both of which are listed in Apendix D

In future you should ask your questions on the Hardware Cert forums.

From Partner Central, goto VMware Ready, then Hardware Certification, from there look for a link in the left column about half way down.
