I have a cluster licensed with Enterprise Plus, and both DRS and HA are enabled. Some VMs are showing vSphere HA failed alerts. I have disabled and re-enabled DRS and HA, and I also restarted the hostd service, but no luck. When I try to put an ESXi host into maintenance mode, it will not enter unless I manually evacuate all VMs.

you got DRS enabled in fully automated mode?

Which version are you running, as this should normally just work. Bit weird indeed.

The vCenters are in ELM mode. I had a vCenter snapshot, and the vCenter was complaining about a sync issue - the vmdir was in read-only mode. Later, it fixed itself!

I've seen such warnings in cases when an HA event was triggered due to some reason, but the VMs were still up and running.
What basically needs to be done in that case is to acknowledge the warning.

Hello, I've seen that at a client, turns out they had a snapshot on the vCenter VM that wouldn't allow HA to work properly.
Removed snapshot, and things went back to normal.
    I hope this helps.

Just want to confirm the circumstances around this. Were the VMs forced to power off?  That will generate a failover.
