  • 1.  Guest fail over in the event of a host failure

New to the community and so forgive me if I post in the wrong group.

I have a ESXi HA cluster, running Enterprise plus with DRS. I was curious to know if in the event Host 1 goes down will all the guests on that host move to host 2 automatically and the redistribute once it comes back up? If not, what do I need to setup to get this to happen.

Yes, if Host 1 goes down then the VMs running on this host will go down too, but will be restarted on some other host after around 15 seconds.

Once Host 1 comes back up the DRS feature will redistribute VMs back if it is needed.

Actually the failback is not gonna happen automatically for this DRS can help you. Enable the DRS on cluster then DRS will do the load balancing.

He has already DRS enabled so this will not be needed.

If DRS is already enabled on the cluster then try to create should affinity rule that rule in like these vm should run on that host
