Hi, I have a single vSphere 6,5 server connected on 10gb iscsi to a 24 disk san.

On my server I have 2 VMs

Each VM is in a member of a resource pool.

Performance pool (Set to high with no res and limit unlimited)

    RDS Server - Server 2012

Low Resource pool (Set to high with no res and limit unlimited)

    Domain Controller - Server 2012

The RDS server has approx 30 users connected to it at any one time and the CPU is always at 99 or 100% in the guest.

When I check the host, the host shows its using approx 5ghz of the total 22.78ghz.

How can I make the guest use more of the CPU so im not getting performance issues? !

Try to add one more CPU to the VM and check the performance.

Also, you can use Live Optics to get a report about your production workload and than tweak it.

Sorry, Should have said that the guest has been assigned 2 sockets and 6 cores per socket. I believe by a previous person.

It was my understanding that you don't need to add more that 2 cores as the physical resources are aggregated down to the guest anyway. the rest is down to guest os licensing?

Maybe this is the issue as the guest will have to wait for all 12 cores of the physical to be free before being able to do anything?
