i'll give it a shot, thanks. from your knowledge do you think I should start to perform these steps on the sending host or the receiving host?
DNS resolution is a good start, also, you may try restarting hostd on both source and destination. Also, make sure you can vmkping the VMkerel ports of from both source and destination hosts.
do you have the commands handy for these?
all commands issued at the service console
restart hostd - service mgmt-vmware restart
vmkping - vmkping IP of VMKernel Port of destination host
hope this helps.
Another thing to try...I can't use a "high priority" vmotion, but "low priority" works just fine.
adam
i got this suggestion from my vendor just a few minutes ago so i'm going to give that a try next. i'm assuming if this works then we can rull out the vmkernal/dns/etc options and sit here and pull my hair out wondering what the heck the last round of updates REALLY did to my hosts.
does it mean anything to you guys that i can move guests around fine as long as they are shut off so really it's just a total vmotion issue from what i can see.
I have similar symptoms...Vmotioning live machines failes, but powered off guests work fine. Try a low-priority vmotion and see if that works. Worked for me.
