  • 1.  Fault Tolerance in vSphere 6 with 1 GbE network card ?

    Hello,

i have make a mistake whene i deploy vsphere 6 on my environnement :smileysad:

we have only 8x 1 GbE network card for this use :

    • 2x for Management
    • 2x for Production VM Port Groupe
    • 2x for iSCSI
    • 1x for vMotion
    • 1x for FT

All is ok except FT :smileysad: i think 10 GbE Network – hard requirement for FT v6!

my question is: i have only one VM to protect, can i make some advanced modification on VM option's to enable FT on this only one VM with 1 GbE network card ?

Thank per advance for your help & love VMware :smileyhappy:

    Best regards

no, it's not hard requirement, I have tried it in test lab with 1 GbE link, worked OK. Didn't have to make any modification in VM provided that virtual hardware configuration is FT compatible, check here from page 45 onwards But if it was for production environment then you need 10 GbE link.

    Hello,

i try this morning FT with 1GbE nic, it's work :smileyhappy: VM 4 vCPU protected with FT.

However, the ping latency up to 50ms :smileyshocked: :smileyshocked: :smileyshocked: without FT, VM ping 1ms and whene FT enabled ping jump from 5 to 50ms.

do you think if i reduce number of vCPU to 2vCpu, we can reduice ping latency ?

it's just temporary until we receive 10GbE card

    Best regards
