  • 1.  Failed to import a physical machine (running w2k srv sp4)

    Hi,

    I'm tryng to convert a physical machine (HP desktop) but in step 3 (preparing target virtual machine) i get:

    "ERROR: Unknown error returned by VMware Converter Agent"

    This is the log:

    2007-10-18 11:51:02.781 'App' 380 error Reconfiguration failed

    2007-10-18 11:51:02.781 'App' 380 error VmiReconfigTask::task: Image processing task has failed with MethodFault::Exception: sysimage.fault.ReconfigFault

    Con you help me please ?

    The problem occur at 97% of the process (my be useful?).

    Can you upload more of the log related to the failure? There is not enough info in what you've provided...

    Have you tried to power on the virtual machine? Did you get a blue screen?

    During the conversion, did you select the utility or diagnostic partition? You cannot select this during the conversion.

    If you did select the utility or diagnostic partition, try the conversion again and this time do not select it.

    If you did not select it, please attach a screen shot of the blue screen as well as the boot.ini file from the virtual machine.

    Hi,

    powering the VM i get a BSOD (attached), boot.ini:

    timeout=3

    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect

    During conversion no dignostic tool was running.

    I have the same problem, w2k sp4 to ESX 3.0.2. If anyone knows how to fix this I would be very grateful.
