  • 1.  expand datastore problems

    Good Morning,

    A customer submitted an additional 2TB to a few hots to expand the datastore from 8TB to 10TB, however when we go to vCenter to expand the capacity of the datastore, we don't see the 2 TB. The client has a unity.

    We do a rescan storage adapters and we still don't see the 2TB when we want to expand the 8TB datastore.

    any other suggestions to solve this please.

    What is the vCenter/ESXi and Datastore VMFS version?

    I've run into a few similar situations with Unity. If you directly log into the WebGUI of one of the connected hosts versus going through vCenter and try to expand the datastore from there, can you see the additional 2TB?

    You're not alone with such an issue. It can happen with each storage system, and seems that it was an issue with some 6.x versions.
    What always solved the issue for me was to run a rescan from each of the hosts' command line using the vmkfstools -V command (note that it's an upper-case -V).
