  • 1.  ESXi600-201803402-BG & Intel Nehalem (X5570)

    Hi *,

    I'm running ESXi 6.0 on Dell R610 with X5570 CPU.

    With reference to VMware Knowledge Base 52085... Do I need to install this patch, even if my CPU is not listed?

    Any pros and cons?

    ESXi600-201803402-BG only delivers the microcode update to mitigate against Spectre. The microcode update can also come in the form of the BIOS/EFI firmware update from the server vendor. For PowerEdge R610, it is in this link

    You do need to apply ESXi600-201803401-BG for the Spectre microcode update to be exposed to the VMs.
