  • 1.  ESXi Environment - DR planning?

    Evening all...

Im currently looking into a solution with the following...

    VMware Essentials Plus

3 x ESXi hosts using multiple iSCSI paths to a iSCSI SAN

    Veeam Backup & Recovery Essentials

My only concern is that I have a single SAN, I know these units are dual controllers/psu ect and are designed to be reslient... however what happens if the whole box fails?

This is where im thinking of using Veeam as I know you can launch/recover VM's directly from the Veeam box back into the ESXi hosts by using vNFS.

One thing im not sure about is that do this VM's run activily until I then restore/update them back into the SAN once it comes back online???

Could anyone either say this will work or that this won't and infact for DR purposes im going to need either a second SAN (expensive) or a simple iSCSI box to restore the VM's too should I need to???

    Any help will be appreciated.

It dosn´t matter on which target you are restoring your Veeam backup. Is not a requirment of having a SAN / NAS.
