  • 1.  esxi and expanding or extending IBMDS3512 LUN

I am working with a couple of esxi 5.0 machines with a fiber channel DS3512 SAN.  Generally all is working well.

I have a couple of new disks added and I am interested in adding these disks to one of the existing other vmware datastores in this SAN.

The question is:  how to correctly get preserve the datastores and get the hosts to recognize the new size?

I have seen posts all over the board (yes you can, no you can't) and I would like to see if there is a step by step that works instead of attempting it blind.

No I would prefer not to just add the couple new disks as a new datastore, I would like to see if the existing can be preserved and expanded.

    Thanks for any info.

    Welcome!!!

You need to perform the resize the LUN on Storage, VMware on after that you must click on the LUN that you increased the size> Properties> Increase> the new value will appear for you to expand the volume.
