ESXI 8 Snapshot error

Converted a physical windows 10 system backup with Veeam backup & Replication. Created a vm using the flat vdmk file as the disk.

now get  the error below. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Failed - A specified parameter was not correct: spec.deviceChange.device

Errors

 

• An error occurred while saving the snapshot: One of the parameters supplied is invalid.
• An error occurred while saving snapshot file
• An error occurred while taking a snapshot: One of the parameters supplied is invalid.

Just to clarify. You said "Created a vm using the flat vdmk file as the disk.".

Do you also have a descriptor .vmdk file, which is the one that has to be used in the VM's configuration, and that pints to the flat file?
