I recently purchased a Tyan 2927-E motherboard and have found out that the onboard RAID (Nvidia MCP55) isn't supported as a RAID solution for ESXi 4.0. What is a good, reasonably priced solution for a RAID controller card to host two or four 300 GB HDD's?

You know, the most trustworthy way to ensure that your RAID array will be supported by VmWare ESX - to use software RAID. For this case I can recommend you the choice of mine - Starwind iSCSI. It supports RAID-0, what lets you to easily create also a failover server.

    Regards,

    Tim.

Tim, with all the respect to Starwind iSCSI it can not be used as RAID for local storage.

For local it maybe not best solution, but because of it`s iSCSI solution it allows to connect to RAID from remote machine.

That is definitely an interesting and helpful site. I see that many people use the Adaptec 2410SA RAID controller. My only question then is if people are using this in a bootable RAID 1 fashion?

I am using Addaptec 2405 with 2 1TB Samsungs as Raid 1 -> works great

I've got that adapter on order and from the reviews I've seen online, I shouldn't have too much of a problem with it. Thank you all for your help!
