ESXi

  • 1.  ESX does not recognize RAID 1 HDD on an Optiplex 755

    Hello,

I am trying to install ESX 4 or 3.5 on an Optiplex 755, I have created a RAID 1 (Mirror) drive made out of 2 HDD x 1TB. If I start a Windows XP installation on this PC the setup sees 1x 1TB HDD wich is the correct behaviour. Unfortunately, ESX displays 2 HDD at setup. Is there any way to make ESX installation display my RAID 1 drive only?

    Thank you for your answer

ESXi does not support software RAID. Your controller is what is called a FAKERAID. It does not have an offload processor. You are stuck with 2 1TB drives. If you need the raid functionality you will need to look through the hardware compatibility list.
