  • 1.  Enable or configure SSD for caching....

OK, so I have my 4 node cluster up, set for the max of one host failure and the local datstores are in a pool and I have a VM running on that datastore. What do I need to do to configure the SSD drives for disk caching?

Or do I do anything at all?

    Thanks

There are two ways to leverage SSD for performance boost.

    1. How to configure host SSD caching on ESXi - TechRepublic

    2. Another way is to deploy vSAN where SSD+HDD combination is used.

Assuming you used flash devices and magnetic disks then this should be done by default. Each host will have a disk group which is formed out of 1 flash device and 1-7 magnetic disks.
