    I don't know if I can strictly put down an OS for the hosts any ideas on this please?

    ESXi falls under the category what is called a "Type 1 hypervisor".

    So maybe if you have ESXi 6.5u1, you put VMware ESXi 6.5u1 build number xxxxxx type 1 hypervisor; much better than leaving it blank.
