  • 1.  Diagnostic Findings is Empty in Aria Operations

    Posted Sep 24, 2025 08:30 AM

I am running Aria Operations 8.18 and just started looking at the Diagnostic Findings area of the application.  On the Diagnostics landing page, the "Overall Findings" and "Security Advisories" widgets both show 0 findings.  All of the other widgets on this page appear to be populating correctly.  I went back through the Aria Logs integration, and everything appears to be working as expected.  I am able to see the Aria Logs events within Aria Ops and the alert integration is also functional.  I know that in 8.18 the findings are somewhat finite, but I would expect to at least see a few items, given the version/age of a few older components in the environment.  Any ideas on things I should check to ensure that the findings are working?

    Thanks in advance!

    @Michael Sella,

Here's a few checklist to troubleshoot missing findings.

Role Permissions: Make sure your user role has access to the Diagnostics menu.
Aria Logs Integration: Confirm native integration is active and the Log Insight Agent is installed on key components.
Diagnostics MP Enabled: Check that the Diagnostics Management Pack is listed and active under Solutions.
Limited Scope: Findings are still finite in 8.18-especially for "Overall" and "Security Advisories."
Object Coverage: Ensure vCenter Adapter has full access and Service Lifecycle Manager is running (especially for vCenter 8.0.3+).
Even with everything set up, it's common to see zero findings due to current limitations I suppose. Just keep an eye on future updates for expanded coverage.

    Hi Shen,

Thank you for the response.  I believe everything checks out relating to the integration and permissions.  I am, however interested in your note about "Service Lifecycle Manager".  I do see two services in vCenter with similar names "VMware Service Lifecycle Manager API" and "VMware vCenter Server Lifecycle Manager" and on my appliance VMware Service Lifecycle Manager API is set to manual and is currently not started.

    Hi Shen,

Based on the information that you provided, I was able to find the information in the Broadcom docs on the requirement to enable "VMware Service Lifecycle Manager API" in the VAMI.  I also discovered that the account on the vCenter adapter in Aria also needs to be added to the "SystemConfiguration.Administrators" group in the local SSO.  Once I completed these two items, I started getting a more complete data collection from the vCenter appliances.  While the two "findings" widgets still show "0", this did improve overall monitoring of the VCSAs.  Thanks!

I am experiencing the same showing 0 widgets for all the widgets in the Diagnostic page running 8.18.3 (24663033). Users have administrator access for all objects. It is the same even after I logon with local admin account.

I had the same situation. See here:

    https://community.broadcom.com/vmware-cloud-foundation/question/no-overall-findings-or-security-advisories-at-diagnostics

    Edit: Link changed

When your System is up to date with all vCenter, ESXi,... you will not get any finding.

Hint: install an old ESXi 7.0 with a 2 years old build. I think, you will then get findings.

    Hi Christian,

You were absolutely correct.  I updated Aria Ops from 8.18.3 to 8.18.5 yesterday, which as i understand, also updates the definitions for findings.  When I checked the Diagnostic Findings this morning, I was happy to see that a couple recommendations are now present in the widgets.  It appears that everything is now working as expected!
