I'm trying to install ESXi 5 on a Dell  Optiplex 790 desktop computer. This desktop has a built in INTEL Ethernet NIC and ESXi doesn't recognize it? How is that possible? It is a very popular NIC and it is a brand new desktop computer. How would I go about trying to get NIC drivers so I can get a working ESXi station? The NIC is an INTEL 82579LM  10/100/1000. Any help would be appreciated, thank you very much.

    Hi,

I can't help with getting your current NIC to work but I bought the following desktop adapters for my home lab running on older Dell Optiplex:

Intel Gigabit PRO/ 1000CT PCIe Desktop Adapter

Intel PRO/1000 GT PCI Desktop Low Profile Adapter

for around £20 each and they work on ESXi 5.1 both were listed on the HCL http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io
