I recently heard about a default vmx file used for new VMs.

Where is this file located ? Is there any documentation about it ?

How does it co-exist with templates ? i.e. if an attribute exists in the default and in the template which one takes precedence ?

I have not heard of this at all - the VMX is generated each time a VM is completed -

I think you must be mixing templates and vmx files up somehow. I have also never heard about it. Please elaborate.

    Hi,

no there is no such thing. What would you use it for? The .vmx file is automatically created when you create a new virtual machine.

I think you're a bit confused: there is no default vmx.

If you like you can do it yourself by creating a virtual machine and copying the resultant vmx file somewhere.

then you can edit it... don't know what will you use it for...
