    Debian, after login, goes black for no reason ( sorry mods, I have posted the first into the wrong group)

    More details about how you created this VM and installed Debian (what options you chose in the Debian installer) would help us figure out what might be the problem. My suspicion is that something is keeping the graphical login in the VM from starting - either it's not completely installed or something didn't get configured correctly  

    Can you force Debian to boot into console mode and post, the output of the commands inxi -Fzxx and lspci  (you may need to use apt to install the inxi package).

    I have deleted the virtual machine, but something strange is happening. I have installed the latest open-vm-ware tools, but I had to manually configure the Debian virtual machine, which is strange
