    There is one ESXi host that is housing one direct attached storage which houses only 1 application (4TB). Storage is DMX4.

    They replicated the LUN/datastore to a DR storage and is directly attached to an ESXi host.

    They tried to add the datastore but only option is format datastore.

    Client wants to as much as possible retain the replicated data so no more initial replication will be done due to bandwidth for the 2 sites.

    ESXi will give an option to format if it does not find the vmfs partition in it. Are you able to browse the datastore and see the contents properly on primary site ?

    Are you sure the replication is consistent and they only get the option to format the physical LUN and not to just resignature the VMFS volume?
