  • 1.  Could not reach isolation address

    Posted Feb 16, 2011 08:55 AM

We are having some issues with our esxi 4.0U1 cluster.

All 3 baldes are set to have their mangement ports pointing to 10.99.61.99 which is our central layer 3.

However when we changed our main cloud router over which is on 10.99.61.100 the blades went offline and we lost coms to the VM's once the new router was online we could reconect to them all.

We have managed to spot the message "Host bc1blade03 could not reach isolation address 10.99.61.100" however we can not find where it is getting this address from

I do not have the below in my cluster advanced settings.

    das.usedefaultisolationaddress set to false

das.isolationaddress to the IP address to test

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this would be appricated

    Thanks

Do a nslookup on the device 10.99.61.100 it should be ur default gateway.

U may also look in aam logs on the ESXi server to get complete activites..

Check the isolation response setting on ur cluster for the VM's it might be kept as "Shutdown VM's" hence u have lost the VM's when it got disconnected from isolation address.

Also, try overriding the isolation address with the KB : http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1002117
