HI all.
I have an ESXi cluster running vCentre 5.1.0 ( Build 880146 ) and vSphere 5.1.0 ( Build 799733 ). Aside from some local storage on my Dell R710 server's i have a Dell Equallogic PS6100XS.
The issue i am having is copying data from my VM Hosts to a secondary SAN over NFS. The secondary SAN is a Dell MD3000i which is hooked up to a Win 2008 R2 Server. All data is being copied over my management network.
Copying large amounts of data / files from windos hosts on my VM network to the secondary SAN via nfs works fine with no problems, but the issue only seems to be from my VM Hosts. I have tested copying large ISO's to the SAN without any problems but as soon as i try to copy a virtual machine's directory for backups i recieve a failure. The hosts drop connection to the NFS share and the copy fails. The volume is then re-mounted ok. All of the networking for the VM and Management network goes voa some Cisco Catalyst 3750's which aren't showing any faults. There is hardly anthing going over the managment network which is why i am testing using this.
I'd like to be able to make some copies of my virtual machines to this SAN over NFS for backup purposes but currently i can't copy VMDK's, but other much larger files from different sources works fine over the same network / vlan.
Cheers,
Jamie.
