  • 1.  converting SQL cluster using RDM disk to VMDK on new storage

Currently I have 2 SQL server VMs on separate hosts running on RDM disks on EMC CX440.

the EMC is way past EOL so I need to rid of it ASAP.

Can I use VMDKs  (instead of RDMs)  since VMs are on separate hosts (same cluster)?  the 2TB limit is not an issue.

    thanks in advance.

The best thing would be to upgrade and use an AAG to avoid the shared disk of a failover cluster. That shared disk is like a rusty anchor and will prevent you from taking advantage of many features.
