  • 1.  Converter problems with Citrix on Dell PE2650

    Posted Sep 29, 2007 01:36 PM

I was able to successfully run a P2V on our Citrix server running on a Dell PowerEdge 2650 server with Windows Server 2003 sp1. I ran the converter (version 1.0.1 i believe) on a seperate server. The Citrix server is configured with hardware raid 10 with the typical m: and n: drives. When I boot up the virtual machine is comes up with "WINDOWS\inf\biosinfo.inf" missing or corrupt. I run the windows repair and it is unable to detect any windows installations.

Has anyone ever successfully gotten citrix converted or gotten this error before? I have considered running ghost and trying to convert a ghost image to vitrual machine. Anyone had success with this? I would not prefer this method because this is a production server that I would rather not take offline.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did the source physical have software mirrors?

mount the vmdk files to a functional windows VM as added virtual disks

    open up diskmanagement

    does everything look right?

also check the boot.ini (if you change this, run converter's "configure machine" wizard)

I gave that a wirl. Found out the issue was not the disks, or the boot.ini, but for some reason the WINDOWS/INF folder was empty. After reviewing the Citrix server, it too was also empty. I copied files over and it worked.

    Thanks!
