  • 1.  Converter P2V BSOD on startup - Multiple Windows XP installations

    Posted Mar 14, 2013 03:06 PM

I haven't run into too many problems with p2v, but this one is proving difficult.  The source desktop is running Windows XP SP3 32-bit, and has a few old applications that can't be recovered.

The applications were originally installed on C:, which is also where the data is stored.

There is a Windows folder on C:

However, Windows is running from D:, in an entirely separate install.

Not sure why this was done this way, but I'm pretty sure that this is the reason why I am getting a BSOD during startup.

Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling from scratch?

The Converter should find the correct Windows folder if you converting 'This Local Machine'. Most probably you need to chage the destination disk controller to be SCSI (LSA). HTH

Well that's a different setup... :smileyhappy:

You may be stuck having to repair the OS installation after the repair... I wonder if during the conversion, it switched the active/system partitions around or something.

    Thank you sparrowangel.

I downloaded 3.0.3, and re-converted the source.  This went perfectly!
