      Hi guys,

I am building my home lab and I was going through the exam objectives one by one, until I reached to (Templates And Clones), and this is where my problem started. so before I start telling you my problem, I want to give a clue of how my home lab is built. I am building the whole thing on vmware workstation so I have:-

    1. windows server 2008 for domain controller 2 gb

    2. windows server 2008 for the whole vcenter5.5 4 gb

    3. 2 esxi host5.5 2gb each after modifying it

    4. openfiler

    5. virtual router

by maybe now you have guessed that I am following the cbtnuggets video trainings.

I am using google chrome as my web browser on my local computer and I downloaded and installed client integration plug-in

so when I try to deploy a OVF template into the one of the esxi host, first it asks me the site is using vmware client integration plug-in as it is show in the picutre. I click on OK

so I go through the steps until I reach to the tab where it is asking to specify the storage. I select the the storage and click next.

then it validate the process and then it shows me a message saying connection error occurred as it is showing the picture

I searched about problem but cloudn't fine any help although I tried to do whatever I can to solve this but none of what I did worked.

I strongly feel that it is related to the Client Integration Plug-in. I want to continue my lab video training but I cannot because of this error.

is there any way you guys could help me?

I am really confused and worried about this problem.

The machine where you're using the browser to connect to vSphere Web Client is on the same network of you vCenter ?

Yes, it is my local PC, I mean it PC where I installed VMware workstation and bridged the whole lab, so all the VMs in the workstation and my local PC on the same subnet which 192.168.1.x

Seems like you're connecting to vCenter using IP address, right ? Try create a entry on host file of your local PC for the vCenter FQDN and try again connecting to vCenter using the FQDN instead of IP address.

I'm using a DNS server installed on my domain controller and I am connect to the vcenter by FQDN.

In my opinion, this is not a connection problem because I disabled the firewall setting.

I have a feeling that this is related to the client integration plug-in,

as you can see in the picture, I pinged the VM where vcenter server is installed using its domain name from my domain controller server.

From what I can see on the below image, you're connected by IP address using the vSphere Web Client... since DNS resolution is working, try connect using FQDN: https://srv.nuglab.com:9443/vsphere-client and deploy the OVF again.

You have a life saver. :smileyhappy: I can't thank you enough because not being able to complete the lab really kept me hanging and felt down. it worked!! it asked me right there to install the client integration plug-in  while I am try to deploy the OVF template

    Thank you :smileyhappy:
