  • 1.  Change IP address after a deployment

    Dear all,

From time to time we need to manually change the IP address to an already deployed VM, I have not found a way to align the vRA internal IPAM and VM properties to this change.

I have also tried unregistering and re-registering the VM, but once we tries to link it to the right Assemblee template it wants to recreate everything from scratch, doing that means that we will lose the automated unprovisioning process.

Is there any way to do this? The action would be to release the current NIC.X IP address and assign the manually defined IP.

    Thank you,

    Regards

Hi brother, for seamless vm IP adjustments, integrate an API to synchronize vRA's IPAM with vm properties. Avoid the unregister-re-register cycle to preserve Assemblee template automation. Innovate by smoothly incorporating manual IPs, ensuring the uninterrupted automated unprovisioning process.

    Dear,

As far as I understood should be possible to use API's for adjust those changes, but sincerely I wasn't able to find the right documentations about. Can you help me ? It would be a good start.

Then I was supposing the best idea is to make it an Orchestrator Workflow that will take care to retrieve the information and update the properties accordly.

    Thanks,

    Regards

    Hi @mcia @xing32

Regarding changing IP addr. of VM, there is no need to unregister & register back the VM in vRA portal to update its IP; once you updated manually inside the VM & VMTools are installed with latest comptabile version; this section will be updated in VM's network details section.

Also to avoid un-provisioning VM while you need to unregister from vRA to replace it from vCenter side / maintenance /...etc; you can skip this part for specific type of service; once you made unregister action; will skip decomissioning cycle for them

    Hi all!

I have similar issue. Some IPs had been updated manually and now it needs to update and "unbound" those IPs in vRA, where they still appear to be in use in the IP range. Any suggestions or point on any API that can do this?

    Regards.
