    Hi

Is it possible to use vicfg-cfgbackup.pl to create backup configuration file and use it as auto delpoy source to new host?

Lets assume that I have three servers with the same hardware configuration, I configure first host manually (IP, DNS, vswitch, scratch config etc) and make backup of it (vicfg-cfgbackup.pl).

After that I restore backup to second host (of course I have to change IP adress and hostname before I connect it to LAN and vCenter). This should work?

Is it possible to edit backup configuration file (.tgz) created by vicfg-cfgbackup.pl? For example to change IP address, DNS name, vMotion IP etc?

I don't believe this would work because the config bundle contains SSL's.

Believe it or not, the Ultimate Deployment Appliance (UDA) still works for vSphere 6 and can run a very advanced scripted install in place of Auto Deploy.
