I have moved some templates in the ESX console and now I am trying to delete them from vCenter but get a message saying "unable to communicate with the romote host, since it is disconnected". I can browse the remote host datastore and can recreate the templates on this host. Any idea's how to delete these stale templates????

    screen shot attached

    thanks in advance,

    Grant

Try restarting the VMware Virtualcenter service on your vCenter server. That usually resolves the problem of disconnected templates. Then you should be able to delete them.

if restarting the vCenter Service doesn't work, you may have to restart hostd on the ESX Host in which the templates are showing up as disconnected. At the service console issue

    >service mgmt-vmware restart

How did you move some templates to ESX? I did not understand that :smileysad:

this problem was resolved by service mgmt-vmware restart.

I moved them on the console command line with "mv".
