I suspect that the switch to bridged allowed the name resolution to work. NAT networking doesn't propagate IP service autodiscovery services (e.g. Bonjour) from the NAT network to the hoat Mac's network.
I also suspect that if you connected to the VM with its IP address on the NAT network it would work as well.
My wife has figured out that if something isn't working properly, the quickest way to get it working again is to try and show me what isn't working. More often than not, whatever was not working now works properly.

Switching to bridged fixed it :)
The calm sound of your voice and troubleshooting steps scared it into working again ;)
Thank you again sir!

Are you trying to connect to a share on Windows from your Mac, or trying to connect to a share on the Mac from Windows. What would help is the details of how you have things set up.
Is the VM set for NAT or bridged networking?
What is the IP address of the VM (determined from within the VM)? Can you ping that address from the Mac?
What does host name "desktop-sq1nq9p" resolve to on the Mac?
Does this work when using the IP address instead of a host name?
Have you examined Windows event logs to see if there are any rejected network connections?

I am pulling out whatever remaining hair I have left on my head trying to figure out why I can no longer connect to a file share on my windows 11 VM on the latest version of Fusion I have followed the steps in the attached which worked for me previously but is no longer working. I even turned off Windows firewall but no luck. Any suggestions? Here is the video I referenced above:
