    Hi List,

we are using vDR2 for our VM Backup.

The vDR backups all the VMs to a raw device. for copying all the Backup to another maschine to transfer it to the tape devices i need a crontab and ftp Client or better ftp server installed on the vDR.

Can i install this via yum without shuttering down the vDR?

    Kind regards

    Andreas

Wouldn't it simply be easier to use an NFS device as your backup target, then you can have raw access to the files.  VDR has enough problems without adding complexity and instability by adding features that are not installed by default.

it may work, but VDR isn't trusthworthy...

VDR is a CentOS... several people have add other software (some also some backup agent to implement a B2D) without big issue...

    But isn't supported.

As written consider to use NFS (or SMB, but can give other issue) as a destination.
