haha, so, workaround time.
The vmware-vmfusion.log of the failed in-app upgrade helpfully showed the URL that it downloads the update from. So I thought I'd try it, thinking optimistically that maybe it would have some kind of script I could run.
But the downloaded com.vmware.fusion.zip.tar file, when sufficiently unpacked, turns out to just have the application itself in it and an empty manifest. Moved the app into /Applications and ran it, and it installed itself as normal. Removed my old license per the recent post here and I'm back up running my Fedora 40 aarch64 guest again quite happily.
Implied: Just copying the app from the Intel iMac after its upgrade probably would have worked too, given it's a universal.
By the way are we actually expecting there to be significant differences in the app (besides enabled Pro features)? For me the main point of upgrading was to get past the transition into it now being from broadcom (which, given the need for the manual workaround, can't really be said to be a success), plus the licencing change. But I don't actually see a changelog for changes in the app itself. There wasn't anything in the check-for-updates dialog.
While this was a **** static download, it's needed to be dug out of a logfile, and is presumably not an official one so I don't expect Homebrew could or should use it.

Thanks Paul, I'll have the team look into it.

I'm seeing this same thing. Thank goodness the in-product updater worked for me or else I would have never gotten 13.5.2 installed.
@Michael Roy this is a really big deal for us Fusion and Workstation users. Can someone be made aware to get this fixed (sooner rather than later would be greatly appreciated)?

yep, i did all that. I'm stuck at the last screen, when I click on the download button (the little cloud with the down-arrow):
(I did see the checkbox for agreeing to T&Cs the first time in, and the first time attempting Workstation Pro too - for a test, don't need - but not since; presumably it's remembering my prior agreement.)
It does look like the sort of error that time might cure, but how long is that going to take? The account itself was set up/migrated about 12 days ago, when prompted to do so by that email.
all right, i'm going to try Safari. But if that works, it's still a bug! Nope, exactly the same in Safari.

Hi,
Michael posted this here for those people who have trouble downloading..
https://www.mikeroysoft.com/post/download-fusion-ws/
Please note that with the move to Broadcom things are in flux, it certainly isn't always as smooth as it used to be.

Well, I've been trying to download Fusion 13.5.2 pro for personal use from the site... Using my support account which was migrated (supposedly, no sign of it knowing my previous license keys) about a week ago. Oh no, nearly two weeks ago, basically as soon as the email saying to do it came in.
I can't download it. I still just get "Account verification is Pending. Please try after some time."
In-app upgrade is failing on an apple silicon mac, so I can't upgrade it that way. It gets stuck at "Update of VMWare Fusion Core pending..." forever. This happened on upgrade to the last version too, resolved by just forcing a download and reinstall of the app afresh; but... see above: I can't get 13.5.2.
The in-app upgrade did work on an old Intel iMac I hardly use any more...
BTW I usually have it installed through Homebrew - but if the installer dmg can't be downloaded directly then I guess they're going to have to drop the package soon... A direct download would definitely be handy here, with or without Homebrew.

Looking forward to sharing some big announcements about Workstation and Fusion next week!
Still figuring out the new community knobs and levers in the meantime!
