  • 1.  Backup VDP, possible?

    Can someone please explain, why a vSphere Data Protection (VDP) discs sets in independent mode?

    What are risk if I deselect it?

    I need to backup the VDP appliance.

    It is set in independent mode for precautionary purpose. Today we do deselect them temporarily while upgrade. Btw, what is your preferred backup for backing up VDP appliance ? You can follow this section in admin guide - Basic Disaster Recovery

    You also have an option of replication - See "Replication" (chapter 15) section of VDP 6.0 admin guide

    We need periodic backup the appliance to tape.

    Are there some way to automate the deselecting independent mode?
