  • 1.  Auto Install Windows Agent

I've been testing Hyperic in our lab as a possible replacement for Solarwinds, we have vCoud Suite Enterprise so it's only logical to try and see what we can do with it.  But is there a way to do a auto/silent install of the Windows agent, possibly with a GPO?  I keep reading old documents that say there is a MSI but have yet to find it. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

    Hello,

You didn't state this, but I will assume this is for virtual machine guest OS agent installs.  If that is the case, Virtual Infrastructure Navigator (VIN) will actually automate the install of the Hyperic agent for you.  VIN is included with vCloud Suite Enterprise and is an appliance install.

Otherwise, you can perform an unattended install of the agent by editing the agent.properties file in the agent install directory and then running the hq-agent.bat with the install switch.

I created a batch file.  Our build doc for a Windows VM guest includes manual installation of a few clients, so for Hyperic the Windows Admin just maps a drive to the server holding the Agent install files and runs the batch file there.
