I added a second hard drive to an XP VM. The drive doesn't show up after I start the VM. I checked and it's using the VMware SCSI drive. Am I supposed to change the driver to the LSI or Buslogic driver before the drive will show up in My Computer?

Did you add the vmware scsi driver?

Did you partition/format the drive from Microsoft Disk Manager within the OS??

The SCSI driver was installed when I converted the VM and ported it to ESXi.

The drive doesn't show up in Microsoft Disk Manager. It just lists Disk 0, CD-ROM 0, and CD-ROM 1.

Have you make a disk rescan in Disk Management (in your XP)?

What does controller does the disk attach to. Check in the VM settings page. What hardware version are you using 4 or 7?

we can check if the scsi-controller is configured correctly when you post the vmx-file

Hi Guys, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I just got home and tried again and I was able to see the drive in disk manager. I'm not sure why it didn't show up before, but it's working now =)
