  • 1.  Adaptec RAID - auto-discovery?

Can HQ do any discovery of Adaptec RAID items? Such as their service that needs to run in order to notify of problems. And can HQ do anything directly with various RAID related messages?

HQ supports monitoring of file systems using the standard 'FileServer Mount service':

This service type does not have any awareness of RAID, so an additional plugin would need to be written for that. How do you currently monitor your RAID? It looks like writing a plugin to parse the output from raidutil would not be too difficult.

FYI, this is on a W2K server.

Now we use Adaptec's raid management software alerting via smtp of issues. Since Adaptec has a fairly large install base for raid, it would be nice for a plug-in to be able to monitor when drives fail, the raid is critical, when a stand-by drive takes over, as well as get misc. metric info, etc.

Can't get any of that from the FileServer Mount server.

    Yeah!

    That would be good!
I personally have a couple of server that have Adaptec's RAID controller's that would be nice to make a graph of...

The Adaptec management software (GUI) let us enable SNMP notifications.
Enabling this feature, would let us monitor the RAID controller, by any mean?

    Thank's
