I once was part of the discontinued home user program that gave out vSphere keys up to 8 cores. I have the ESXi 6 and 8 keys to prove it. How can I find my ESXi 7 key that I have lost? Intetnet says Broadcom has them somewhere. I can't open a ticket because the website won't let me. What do I do?

    Hi sunborn,

If your license came from the old VMware Home User Program, there's a good chance the original entitlement is no longer directly accessible after the Broadcom transition.

    A few things to try:
    • Check your Broadcom Support Portal account to see if your historical entitlements were migrated.
    • Search your old email for the original license delivery or activation confirmation.
    • If you purchased through a reseller or employer, they may still have a record of the key.
    • If you can't open a support case, try contacting Broadcom Customer Care to verify whether your account is correctly linked to your entitlements.

If the key was never migrated or the Home User Program entitlement has been retired, Broadcom may not be able to reissue it. Unfortunately, many legacy licenses from discontinued programs have limited recovery options.

Hopefully someone who successfully recovered a Home User Program key after the Broadcom migration can share their experience.

So I contacted support and they tried looking up my existing keys and they didn't even come up in the system, so it seems that they can't even tell if your valid keys are valid. So it seems that even working keys can just work--anyway. What they can't do is tell you is the keys that you used to have under VMware. So no one can tell me my valid ESXi VMware gave me.
