  • 1.  Access Data from RDM Disks

    Posted Mar 09, 2018 06:03 PM

    Hi Gurus,

I have a FC based LUNs, which I have attached as RDM disk to 1st VM.

Now, I am using SUSE Linux as my OS, I am able to see the LUN as a disk on the OS as /dev/sdb. I have created an xfs file system on it.

On the second VM, I have added it as an existing disk( Proper SCSI controller on both VMs, sharing type as multi-writer etc. have been used properly.Left those details for the sake of simplicity)

So my question is, how do I make the second VM(with SUSE Linux OS) see the contents of /dev/sdb from the first VM as I am able to see the disk from first VM but not the contents?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Siddhesh

    Hi,

Actually, OS and application should be cluster aware for using shared disks. There is no different between VMDK and RDM.

If you don't have clustering on both OS, the machines can't detect new data that stored on the disk at same time.
